Fleming Alexander to Zadoc Fleming Deed


Alexander (of Matthew and Mary [Fleming] Fleming) and Mary Fleming (of Nathan Fleming and Lydia Russom/Rassum) give a tract of land to their son Zadoc (b. 1806) in this 1844 Marion County deed.

This indenture made this 10th day of February in the year of our Lord 1844 by and between Alexander Fleming and Mary his wife of the first part and Zadoc Fleming of the other part all of the county of Marion and State of Virginia Witnesseth that the said Alexander Fleming and Mary his wife for and in consideration of the love and affection they have for said Zadoc Fleming they the said Alexander Fleming and Mary his wife have granted, given and conveyed and by these presents do give grant and convey to the said Zadoc Fleming his heirs and assigns forever a certain tract or parcel of land situated in the county and State aforesaid adjoining lands of Alfred Fleming and others and bounded as followeth, to wit, Beginning at a white oak corner to said Alfred Fleming and with one of his lines N7-1/2 W 54 poles to a dogwood corner to said Alfred also a corner to said Alexander Fleming thence S19 E 10-3/4 poles Dogwood S30 E39 poles to a stone  S48 W 5-1/2 ps Crabapple S30 E 2 ps to Stone N48 E 5-1/2 ps Stone S30 E21 psn the South side of the big road S38 E29-3/4 ps poplar in a line of Boaz Fleming N15-1/2 E 5-3/4 ps Stone N 4-1/2 W26 ps Stone N59 E23 poles to a stone N9 W34 poles to the place of beginning containing 11-3/4 acres by survey be it the same more or less To have and to hold the above discribed tract or parcel of land with all and Singular the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in anywise appertaining to the only proper use benefit and behoof of him the said Zadoc Fleming his heirs and assigns, and that they the said Alexander Fleming and mary his wife will warrant and forever defend the title to the said Zadoc Fleming his heirs and assigns from all persons now claiming or may hereafter claim the same in any manner or form whatsoever. In testimony whereof the said Alexander Fleming and Mary his wife have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals in the day and year above written.

Virginia. Be it remembered that on the 10th day of February in the year 1844 this deed was produced to me Thomas L. Boggess Clerk of the county court of Marion, in my office, acknowledged by Alexander Fleming and admitted to record.
