This transcription is a deed between Alfred and his wife Anna B. and John L. Howard. There is no relation ship that I am aware of (remember, though, Alfred is my great grand Uncle and not direct line, so I have done little or no research on Anna Belle’s family – John Howard may well be related to her somehow). Alfred is a son of Joseph and Caroline Frentress Elledge and brother to John Wesley Elledge, my great grand father.
This indenture witnesseth, that John L. Howard and his wife Anna M. Howard of Orange county in the State of Indiana convey and warrant To Alfred Elledge and his wife Anna B. Elledge Jointly of Orange county in the State of Indiana for the sum of Sixty dollars the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged the following Real Estate, in Orange County in the state of Indiana, to wit: A part of the North East of the South East quarter of Section four (4) Township One (1) north and Range two (2) west to wit: Starting at the North East corner of said quarter thence running west on line thirty seven (37) rods Seven (7) feet and three (3) inches Thence run South Thirty three (33) rods three (3) feet and six (6) inches to the place of Beginning Thence run south eight (8) rods thence west twenty (20) rods, thence North eight (8) rods thence west twenty (20) rods, thence north eight (8) rods Thence East twenty (20) rods to the place of beginning containing One acre. In witness thereof, the said John L. Howard and his wife Anna M. Howard has hereunto set their hands and seals, this 10 day of February AD 1903.
